Job Description

Job Summary We are an established law firm in Newport News, Virginia, seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team. This position is intended for a seasoned paralegal with at least five (5) years of substantive, hands-on family law paralegal experience who is comfortable managing the demands, deadlines and details of an active family law caseload. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional and able to work independently while also functioning as an important part of a collaborative legal team. Because family law can be fast-paced and emotionally sensitive, we are looking for someone who communicates professionally with clients, exercises good judgment and can confidently manage competing priorities.
Responsibilities:
Organize and maintain comprehensive case files, ensuring all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with procedural law standards Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity Organize, review and summarize financial records, discovery responses, exhibits and case related documents Coordinate client meetings, court dates, and hearings while maintaining clear communication channels between clients and legal teams Support the management of legal teams by tracking deadlines, court filings, and procedural requirements Monitor cases to ensure deadlines and required follow-up are handled timely Accurately record and maintain billable time Provide proactive case support and anticipate attorney and client needs
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a family law paralegal Strong knowledge of family law procedures, terminology, discovery and litigation support Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases, deadlines and responsibilities Professional and compassionate demeanor when working with clients who may be dealing with difficult or emotionally charged circumstances Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Must be willing to submit to a background check as a condition of employment Join us if you are looking to become a member of our team, takes pride in the quality of your work and understands the important role an experienced paralegal plays in keeping cases organized and moving forward. Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
