Legal Administrative Specialist Department of Justice Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys and the Office of the U.S. Attorneys Southern District of Florida Summary The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible. This job is open to The public U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL) Federal employees whose job, agency or department was eliminated and are eligible for priority over other applicants. This Legal Administrative Specialist is responsible for managing an organizational segment, which provides direct legal support services to the AUSAs. The incumbent is also responsible for accomplishing administrative assignments, as required by the Criminal Chief, to ensure effective and efficient services throughout the Criminal Division. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Legal Administrative Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of manpower planning legal support; litigative support.
Typical work assignments will include:
Evaluating current office systems on the legal support side and propose new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods, utilization of manpower, use of equipment, distribution of work assignments, caseload management, changes in priorities, workflow, and systems development for use by the attorneys and support staff. Performing a variety of administrative work to meet the operational needs of the assigned areas. Providing case management, legal research and overall support to litigation activities of the Criminal Division. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Specialized Experience:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- 11 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Providing advice and guidance on a wide range of complex litigation support issues; Assisting in case management, legal research and overall support to litigation activities; Analyzing legal and factual issues to determine data needed, methods to obtaining, or relevance of data for cases; Evaluating current office systems on the legal support side to proposes new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods, utilization of manpower, use of equipment, distribution of work assignments, caseload management, changes in priorities, workflow, or systems development for use by the attorneys and support staff.
