Job Description

This is investigative work involving the review, research, documentation, and coordination of compliance and disciplinary matters for a professional licensing board. The incumbent assists with investigations, background checks, continuing education audits, legal and disciplinary records, and communication with applicants, licensees, attorneys, Board members, and other regulatory entities. Work includes gathering information, organizing case materials, preparing documentation, and applying applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Examples of work include conducting investigations by phone, correspondence, email, or in person; gathering, reviewing, and organizing supporting documentation; researching legal, licensing, disciplinary, or compliance issues; performing background checks and related research on applicants or licensees; assisting agency legal counsel with disciplinary complaints, consent orders, affidavits, and follow-up documentation; conducting continuing education compliance audits; maintaining legal and disciplinary records; documenting receipt of fines and compliance with penalties; maintaining disciplinary case lists and status updates; communicating with Board members, attorneys, applicants, licensees, investigators, and other agencies; updating the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) database with disciplinary actions; attending meetings or training events as directed; assisting with internal data management; and performing related duties as assigned. Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of investigative experience; or High school or high school equivalency and 3-4 years of experience. Essential functions include conducting and supporting licensure-related investigations; reviewing and researching applicant, licensee, legal, disciplinary, and compliance information; gathering, organizing, and maintaining investigative records and documentation; assisting with background checks and continuing education compliance audits; preparing or assisting with disciplinary complaints, consent orders, affidavits, reports, correspondence, and case summaries; communicating with applicants, licensees, attorneys, Board members, agency staff, and other regulatory entities; interpreting and applying applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; maintaining disciplinary case files, tracking case status, and documenting compliance with penalties; updating applicable databases and records; attending required meetings or training events; maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards; and performing related investigative and administrative duties as assigned.
