Join NMSU's professional legal team and apply your analytical skills to respond to public records requests in a prompt, professional manner. In this job, you will work with legal assistants and attorneys to utilize specialized software and coordinate with stakeholders across campus to help ensure compliance with the Inspection of Public Records Act. You will additionally have the opportunity to use these skills to assist with litigation discovery and contribute to the legal team with other operational processes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for timely preparing and replying to IPRA requests. This role is comprehensive, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities related to maintaining and improving business operations within University General Counsel. Position requires independent judgment to make decisions on matters of significance ensuring compliance with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act. Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and redacting documents, attaching appropriate documentation and timely sending a completion email to the requestor. Effective analytical skills and a strong understanding of business processes, including IPRA laws and related decision making, are critical for success in this position.
Select duties include:
- Compliance and Reporting- Analysis, Communication and Collaboration. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree + 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate and one year of relevant experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience as may be approved by HR.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in responding to public records requests or litigation records production

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
