Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout the Carolinas. We pride ourselves in providing quality services to our clients through a culture of teamwork and collegiality. We are seeking a Legal Applications Specialist to join our Greenville , New Bern , Raleigh , or Wilmington office. The role of the Legal Applications Specialist is to work with the IT department, practice section management, and other key personnel to evaluate application programs and ensure that they meet the needs of users and business goals; create and maintain the Firm's automated templates; administer, support, and improve case management and docketing systems; and identify workflow improvements within practice sections and propose solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of how legal practice areas function and have a good working knowledge of legal procedures, data management, and information technology. A general understanding of Artificial Intelligence and AI models, a general understanding of business process management and workflow design, the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience, proficiency in MS Office with expert level skills in MS Word required. Should be proficient in case management and docketing software. Must have the ability to work independently and in teams. A bachelor's degree in information systems or an associate's degree in paralegal technology preferred. A strong paralegal or legal assistant with expertise in their legal practice and a proven ability to leverage technology can substitute for some of the technical requirements, but technical training will be required. Experience of 3-5 years in a similar role or 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal/legal practice supporting role with demonstrated expertise in legal software systems. One to two years of programming experience or experience using a low-code platform preferred. Expert level skills in MS Word required.
