A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

About the role The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, attention to detail, and have the desire to work in a fast-paced litigation group. Strong organizational skills a must. This is a great opportunity for candidates with a desire to work in a new, dynamic, growing office of a national firm. Flexible work environment and remote options available. What you'll do Filing and circulation of pleadings in both state and federal court. Maintain docketing for attorneys including assisting with calculation of court and discovery deadlines in accordance with state and federal rules. Provide administrative support to attorneys assisting with processing invoices, coordinating scheduling of depositions, and ensuring compliance with client preferences and guidelines. Assist with opening new files including assisting with collection of preliminary documents and information from clients and obtaining all necessary information from clients to open new files. Assist attorneys with management of schedules including providing support coordinating travel, assisting with scheduling meetings, and managing attorney schedules. Under attorney direction prepare correspondence and other written documents. Prepare and handle tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information. Assure organization of files including maintenance and management. Monitor files and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement. Qualifications 3+ years of prior legal assistant experience supporting litigators in civil defense in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment. CA State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required. Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment, high attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. High School Diploma or its equivalent required. #LI-JR1
