Immigration Legal Services Organization:
Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) CIRI is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Immigration Legal Services team full time. This position will focus on supporting Ukrainian clients as they navigate the U.S. immigration system. You'll work closely with attorneys and DOJ-accredited representatives to keep cases organized, clients informed, and legal processes moving forward efficiently and compassionately. This is a temporary position through 9/29/26 with the possibility of extension.
Position Details Schedule:
Part Time 3 days per week
Compensation:
$20-$21 per hour
Classification:
Non-exempt Key Responsibilities Support Ukrainian clients by attending meetings, providing case updates, and offering appropriate referrals. Conduct legal research and summarize relevant laws and procedures for each case. Draft case-related documents, including correspondence, motions, and legal memos for review. Review and organize client files, prepare immigration forms, and assist with filing. Maintain accurate electronic case records, including reminders, deadlines, and file tracking. Provide administrative support such as scheduling, phone/email communication, document scanning, and data entry. Qualifications Fluency in Ukrainian (Strongly Preferred). Paralegal experience or training in any field (immigration experience preferred Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office, databases, and digital tools. Experience working with immigrant populations or individuals from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to CIRI's mission of supporting refugees, immigrants, and their families.
Preferred but not required:
