Full-time Job Title:
Criminal Defense Paralegal Overview Join our dynamic legal team as a Criminal Defense Paralegal and play a vital role in supporting complex criminal cases. This fast-paced, energetic position offers the opportunity to work closely with trial attorneys, manage high-stakes case files, and directly contribute to impactful litigation processes. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a passion for criminal law and exceptional organizational skills. This is a paid, full-time position that provides valuable, hands-on experience in a collaborative environment emphasizing professional growth and legal excellence.
Key Responsibilities Litigation Support:
Assist attorneys through all phases of criminal litigation, including comprehensive case preparation, discovery review, and trial support.
Legal Research:
Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw to support case strategies and defense motions.
Document Drafting:
Draft precise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and professional correspondence.
Case & File Management:
Maintain, organize, and secure digital case files using Practice Panther and Office 365 , ensuring strict confidentiality.
Evidence Coordination:
Review and organize evidence, witness statements, and court filings while maintaining meticulous records.
Client & Witness Relations:
Coordinate and assist with client and witness interviews; accurately document testimonies, transcribe recordings, and proofread files.
Administrative Management:
Manage court schedules, track critical deadlines, handle data entry, and coordinate filings to keep cases moving efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Proven paralegal experience in criminal defense or a related litigation field.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong familiarity with law office management software (specifically Practice Panther and Office 365 ) and proficiency with Westlaw .
Communication:
Exceptional writing and proofreading skills for drafting legal documents and reports.
Interpersonal Skills:
Confidence and empathy in conducting client/witness interviews and collaborating with a legal team.
Organization:
Superior organizational and time-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines.
