Paralegal

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance and advocacy for low-income individuals and families. We work to ensure access to justice and fair treatment in the areas of housing, consumer rights, and other essential legal services. Essential Job Duties Perform client intake Gather documents and information from clients for grant reporting purposes Open, maintain, and close case files and applications Draft notices, discovery, motions, and pleadings Prepare and send letters to clients Provide clients with community resource referrals Schedule hearings and client appointments Provide litigation support to the attorneys, e.g., preparation of exhibits and trial notebooks Use telephonic interpreter services and schedule sign language interpreters Track pro bono and volunteer hours, and handle reporting on such hours Keep detailed and contemporaneous time records Perform various other duties as assigned Skills and Experience Completion of a training program to become a paralegal or legal paraprofessional, or equivalent education/experience Minimum of two years of civil law office experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications Strong organizational skills, patience, and ability to work well with others Ascendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
