A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Applicant must be able to provide prompt and effective support to multiple attorneys by performing such tasks as conducting legal research, drafting various legal documents, managing document production, investigating case facts, organizing case files, scheduling appointments, tracking critical deadlines and assisting in trial preparation.
Duties may include:
Meeting with potential and current clients Updating and communicating with clients on the status of their cases Creating and managing case files Drafting and/or proofreading correspondences, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents Scheduling and tracking depositions, mediations, hearings, court deadlines, and other appointments/meetings Conducting legal research Performing other administrative duties and assignments as required by the managing attorneys Applicant should possess the following skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Lexis/Westlaw Ability to multitask Compensation commensurate with experience.
