Our practice handles family law, criminal defense, and personal injury cases. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This position offers the opportunity to assist attorneys and a paralegal with a variety of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office. The ideal candidate for this position will be process oriented, possess excellent customer service skills, and an ability to manage multiple tasks at a time. This position is perfect for someone who has an interest in or experience in the legal sector who is eager to grow in a fast-paced legal environment while providing vital support that keeps our legal practice running efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities Managing and organize legal files, documents, and correspondence Preparing, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence using Word processing and legal management software Handling incoming calls via multi-line phone systems Maintaining calendar schedules for attorneys, including court dates, client meetings, and deadlines through calendar management tools Performing data entry tasks accurately into the case management system Assisting with office management duties including filing, photocopying, scanning documents, and maintaining office supplies inventory Preparing and managing outgoing and incoming mail Filing court documents through online legal filing systems Keeping track of billable time Skills Required Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong typing speed and proofreading skills Computer literacy with the ability to adapt quickly to new software or technical tools Organizational skills to manage files, schedules, and administrative tasks Effective phone etiquette and customer service skills Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality Time management skills to ensure the prioritization of urgent tasks while still managing the remaining workload Preferred Skills Familiarity or proficiency with Clio Familiarity or proficiency with online legal filing systems such as Benchmark, PeachCourt, or Odyssey Knowledge of legal terminology or experience as a legal secretary Previous office management experience including front desk duties, filing systems, and answering phones.
