Job Summary The Legal Contract Specialist at Deaconess Health System is a Paralegal-level position and is responsible for the timely and accurate creation, review, and maintenance of contracts, amendments, and addendums for physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs) and other types of contracts. This position works closely with the In-House Counsel, Compensation Pension Committee, and several other departments, to manage the physician contracting process and support the legal department's operational needs. The Legal Contract Specialist (Paralegal) will also play a key role in maintaining the hospital's contract management system, preparing reports, and assisting with general legal and compliance duties. Essential Functions Prepare and maintain all documentation for physician contracts and related amendments in accordance with the hospital's policies. Prepare, proofread, redline, distribute, and ensure proper notification for physician and APP contracts, discussion drafts, and related documents. Maintain detailed records of physician contracts, including new and renewed contracts, terminations, and expirations. Assemble and prepare physician compensation information six times a year for the Compensation/Benefits and Pension Committee of the Board of Directors. Provide general administrative support for In-House Counsel, including preparing and filing business entity documents with the Secretary of State. Act as one of the System Administrators for the hospital's Contract Management System. Train managers and Super Users on system functionalities. Generate and maintain monthly physician reports and other contract-related documentation as requested. Serve as recorder for weekly Physician Contracting Team meetings. Assist with contract management for select joint ventures. Coordinate and complete special projects as needed. Assist with departmental expense reporting and provide backup support for the Administrative Department.
Education and Experience Required :
Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Key Qualifications Self starter Experience with drafting contracts and preparing revisions and redlines Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with contract management software, database administration, Microsoft products (Word, Excel) and DocuSign. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
