Job Description

Job Overview:
Elkton. Small AV-rated firm seeks experienced legal secretary/paralegal in Estate Planning and Administration; 5+ years' legal experience required, 3+ years in Estates/Trusts preferred. This Cecil County law firm was established more than 65 years ago, and has had the highest AV rating for many decades. The job opening is a mixed legal secretary/paralegal position. The duties involve managing a busy estate/probate and estate planning practice.
Responsibilities:
All applicants must be able to track all estate filing deadlines, and will serve as a primary client contact. Accordingly, all candidates must have excellent organizational, computer, and client service skills. The position offers significant growth potential as a professional, since the successful candidate will be permitted (after appropriate training) to prepare the first draft of estate/probate filings. Likewise, the successful candidate will be offered the opportunity (after appropriate training) to prepare the first draft of the various estate planning documents using a document drafting software. Please note that prior employment references will be required and contacted.
Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Attention to detail for accurate document preparation and proofreading
  • Proficient in using document management systems and legal software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules
  • Clerical skills for administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and scanning This position requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
