$23-$26 per hour, depending on experience About the Opportunity A well-established law firm is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and team-focused Family Legal Assistant to support a busy Family Law practice. This position is based in Kennebunk, Maine, with occasional travel to Brunswick required . The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys supporting attorneys and clients, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in keeping matters moving forward efficiently. Key Responsibilities You will provide day-to-day support to the Family Law team, helping ensure client matters remain organized and on track.Responsibilities include:
Opening and closing client matters in case management and CRM systems Maintaining accurate electronic and physical files Processing and organizing court documents, scheduling notices, calendars, and client records Monitoring shared inboxes and processing incoming emails, documents, and system integrations Preparing, proofreading, and formatting legal documents and correspondence using templates and attorney direction Preparing, filing, and tracking motions and other court filings Communicating with courts, agencies, vendors, clients, and prospective clients via phone and email Scheduling meetings and appointments and managing attorney calendars Assisting with client communications, follow-up, billing, and timekeeping procedures Providing general administrative support, including scanning, copying, filing, and mailing correspondence Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient office operations The successful candidate will: Be highly organized and detail-oriented Demonstrate strong follow-through and reliability Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully Possess a positive, team-first attitude Treat clients and colleagues with patience, empathy, and professionalism Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change Be able to accommodate occasional travel between the firm's office locations Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional office environment Legal office experience preferred but not required Experience with scheduling, document preparation, calendar management, email management, and administrative support Ability to learn and utilize case management and CRM software Proficiency with Mac OS, Apple Mail, and Google Workspace Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent computer and typing skillsCompensation & Benefits Pay:
