Job Description
New client intakes, existing client and court interaction (by phone and correspondence), preparation of files for hearing are part of the overall experience in a growing York, Maine law firm assisting disability clients throughout New England. The legal assistant is responsible for managing client contact from inception and with assisting clients through the legal process, helping not only to gather the important information regarding client concerns but also to answer questions and help resolve issues. In addition to extensive client contact, the legal assistant needs to be capable of juggling responsibilities, which include correspondence to clients and hearing offices along with case filings. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, good energy and is comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment. In addition, the ideal candidate would be a good listener, patient, empathetic and professional in both demeanor and with their view of their role within the firm. College graduate preferred. No prior experience in the field required. Will require access at home to WIFI internet and the use of an efficient and modern laptop and cell phone for programs used for remote access to VOIP phone program and word processing programs/files.
