The Paralegal will contribute to our team-oriented goal of providing excellence in professional legal services and achieving client satisfaction. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) and other business tools and platforms.
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts
- Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice
- Manage client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending invoices and following up with outstanding payments
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, judges, and courtrooms to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions
- Maintain details and task assignments using MyCase
- Manage and organize documents in paper or electronic filing systems
- Store, distribute, and manage files in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Provide general administrative assistance, such as supporting the attorneys with daily tasks, maintaining calendars, and making travel arrangements
- Draft, review, and prepare documents for hearings, trials, and meetings
- Ensure completion of client-related paperwork (intake forms, agreements, etc.)
- Participate in staff meetings and performance improvement activities
- Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
- Performs all secretarial duties as requested and additional duties as assigned Competencies (Complexity of Work) Requires critical thinking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision Flexible, reliable, team-oriented, and self-motivated Professional behavior and appearance Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal Ability to work within a team setting in accordance with our overall mission and goal Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail Positive attitude and the drive to provide excellence client service Work Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Associate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree preferred 1-3 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal Detail-oriented, highly organized, and process-driven Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines Physical/Sensory Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Requires ability to sit for periods of time. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Sedentary work - Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
