We are currently seeking an experienced Prosecution Legal Assistant with experience in prosecution, victim advocacy or criminal law to join our Eckberg Lammers team! This position will act as one of the department's Prosecution Legal Assistants and Victim-Witness Coordinators and be responsible for data entry-clerical/administrative work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Open and maintain case files using prosecution management software Manage a jurisdictional-based caseload, including file processing, police report and evidence intake, discovery disclosure, and witness notification responsibilities Assist with drafting correspondence Complete document filings Assist with county jail calendars, to include timely filing of attorney bail recommendations and proposed orders, and ensuring prioritization of in-custody case referrals Prepare evidence packets for trials and hearings Provide administrative support to the prosecution team Complete special projects as assigned Manage victim communications, including providing case updates and notifications of hearings Collect and file victim impact statements and affidavits for restitution Assist with answering the general law firm phone line when needed Distribute daily mail, on a rotational basis Knowledge of the criminal justice system is required
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required 1-3 years of Victim-Witness experience preferred 3-5 years of experience working in a Law Firm Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook) LENS or prosecution case management systems experience preferred Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail Ability to effectively and professionally communicate Able to work as a team player Open to development of skills and knowledge Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change Excellent customer service Can be trusted with sensitive information Eckberg Lammers offers an inclusive work environment with opportunities for growth and development in addition to competitive compensation and benefits as shown below.
