A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

A&M Law is seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Legal Assistant to join our tight-knit team in the heart of downtown Missoula. Founded by attorneys Ashley Hurlbert and Misty D. Gaubatz, A&M Law provides excellent legal representation to clients in the areas of criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. Our clients often come to us during difficult and stressful situations, and the work we do has the potential to impact a lifetime. We are looking for someone who will treat every client with patience, professionalism, discretion, and respect. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and managing daily responsibilities while also collaborating closely with attorneys. Legal office experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who is eager to learn, fits in well with our office, and interested in building a career in the legal field.
Position responsibilities include the following:
Answering and making phone calls involving clients, prospective clients, attorneys, court personnel, and others. Communicating professionally and compassionately with clients by email and in person. Monitoring, receiving, organizing, and responding to email correspondence with other attorneys, courts, and business associates. Maintaining calendars for the office and two attorneys including tracking court dates and deadlines. Drafting and preparing letters. Preparing and formatting legal documents. Preparing and formatting discovery. Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical client files. Maintaining client confidentiality and protecting sensitive information. Local errands including trips to the bank, post office, or courthouse. Performing other duties as needed to support the attorneys, clients, and daily operation of the firm.
Qualifications:
