A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

As our firm continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated, organized, and personable Legal Assistant to join our team Job Overview The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support to our Criminal Defense and Family Law teams while also serving as the welcoming face of our office. This role combines front desk responsibilities with legal support duties. Legal experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding client service.
Key Responsibilities Reception & Client Service:
Greet clients and visitors with professionalism and compassion, and answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Client Communication:
Schedule appointments, provide case updates when appropriate, and maintain positive relationships with clients throughout their cases.
Case Management:
Open new client files, organize and maintain electronic case files, and assist attorneys with case progression.
Document Preparation:
Prepare, proofread, scan, organize, and file legal documents with courts and agencies while ensuring deadlines are met.
Records & File Management:
Request and organize records, discovery, and other case-related documents.
Calendar Management:
Assist attorneys with scheduling hearings, meetings, deadlines, and appointments.
Administrative Support:
Process incoming and outgoing mail, maintain office supplies, and provide general administrative support to attorneys and staff.
Software Management:
Utilize MyCase and other office software to manage files, calendars, and client communications.
Confidentiality:
Handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks assigned to support the continued success of the firm. Qualifications Legal experience is preferred but not required. Previous experience in an administrative, receptionist, customer service, or office support role is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Professional, dependable, and detail oriented. Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-first attitude. Comfortable learning new technology and legal software, including MyCase. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Eager to learn and interested in developing a long-term career in the legal profession.

Starting at $20.00 per hour , with higher compensation available based on legal experience and qualifications.
