Job Description

Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm throughout The Carolinas. We pride ourselves in providing quality service to our clients through a culture of teamwork and collegiality. We are seeking an experienced Creditors' Rights Paralegal to join our Greenville or Raleigh office. Applicants should be multi-task oriented, well organized, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to function well in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting attorneys in all aspects of commercial and consumer collections and bankruptcy, with a familiarity with foreclosures and other related Creditors' Rights matters; drafting, e-filing and serving legal documents, a working knowledge of state and federal court rules, systems and statutory deadlines; detailed caseflow management and docketing of all aspects of same; conferring with Clerks, Court Administrators, Sheriff's Departments and parties involved; monitoring and management of electronic filing systems, service and schedules; maintaining electronic and physical files; and following up to ensure all required actions are completed. All paralegal functions are performed under the supervision of an attorney and paralegal supervisor. Applicants should have at least two to three years' experience in handling all aspects of commercial and consumer collections, bankruptcy, and familiarity with foreclosures. An Associate's Degree in Paralegal Technology is preferred. Commensurate work experience may be substituted for education. Must have a North Carolina Notary Public or the ability to obtain same. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week following a successful initial training period of no less than six months. We are offering a generous sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 to direct hires for this position.
