Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal with at least two years experience in plaintiff's personal injury law with a New Jersey law firm to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the New Jersey litigation process and demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communications skills, organizational skills, legal research skills and computer skills. Duties Manage office calendar and schedules for court appearances, depositions, and client meetings. Communicating with clients, witnesses, record retrieval services, medical providers, experts, etc. to both gather and provide necessary information for cases. Conducting client intake phone calls as well as managing and prioritizing telephone messages for attorneys to respond to. Seek and obtain medical, billing and other necessary records via letter, e-mail, telephone calls and/or subpoena. Perform daily clerical duties such as filing correspondence and case specific documents. Maintain organized electronic and physical case files and ensure easy access to critical information. Upkeep, categorize, organize and manage the firm's electronic file folder library, including properly saving case specific documents to specific subfolders for litigation purposes. Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings by organizing case files and evidence. Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy. Draft, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence on NJ eCourts. Draft and serve discovery demands, such as interrogatories and notices for document production. Respond to discovery demands, such as Interrogatories and Notices to Produce. Requirements At least two years experience in Plaintiff's personal injury law with a New Jersey law firm is required. Experience in medical malpractice and/or employment law is a plus. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PDF programs and File Explorer is a must as well as ability to familiarize oneself with the firm's electronic file share system and any other required program or function. Expertise in New Jersey eCourts as well as N.J. court rules and procedures. Experience with serving and responding to litigation discovery demands, including but not limited to interrogatories and demands for document production. Proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools such as Lexis Nexis. Excellent writing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong interpersonal skills to work with clients, experts, records retrieval services, witnesses, etc. to advance the positive outcome of cases. Ability to draft clear and concise motions and pleadings. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong analytical skills. A degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred but not required. A New Jersey Notary Public Certification is preferred but not required.
