While our Am Law 200 and Chambers ranked firm employs more than 1,000 people, we operate as one tight-knit and highly collaborative team. Goldberg Segalla seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team to provide Workers' Compensation attorneys that have a high volume of work with paralegal support within our Newark or Princeton NJ offices. This role involves a combination of administrative and substantive legal work, ensuring that cases are well-organized and efficiently managed. This role is eligible to be hybrid after on-site training is complete.
KEY QUALITIES
Communication Skills:
Ability to document and present legal research and related information to supervising attorney(s) promptly.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using computers for legal research, and other legal tasks. Familiarity with software (e.g., Microsoft Suite) for organizing and maintaining legal documents.
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to develop good relationships with clients and professionals, making clients comfortable sharing personal case information. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines. Excellent organizational skills are essential.
Research Skills:
Strong research and investigative skills for conducting legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles.
TARGET BILLABLE HOUR REQUIREMENTS
100 hours per month
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel. Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations to assist with defense of claim. Analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy. Assist attorney with defense of workers' compensation claims. Conduct legal research related to workers' compensation laws and regulations. Daily management of billable time entries. Professionally and tactfully communicate with clients, insurance companies, medical providers and attorneys to relay information and defend claims. Collect and analyze documents and information to assist with litigation. Knowledge of legal documents and terminology relates to Workers' Compensation. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies. Ability to jump into an existing caseload and move cases forward. Prepare pertinent documents and substantive correspondences. Provide status reports and recommendations to attorney(s) throughout all stages of litigation. Save all emails, documents and filings in the document management system. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or higher, +3 years of experience, paralegal certification preferred. Workers' Compensation experience preferred. Clear communication and information exchange in English. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to observe and assess data and documents in printed form and on computer screens. Willingness to work beyond normal hours. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision. Ability to respond and maintain confidentiality of information or adversarial inquiries
BENEFITS
The hourly salary range for this position is $23.00 to $28.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses and a full benefits package.
