You will have at least five years of relevant legal experience and be comfortable supporting estate planning, estate administration, related tax matters, and occasional real estate transactions.
Responsibilities:
Support attorneys with estate planning and estate administration matters. Prepare, organize, review, and maintain trusts and estates documents, correspondence, and client files. Assist with the preparation and coordination of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, probate documents, and related legal materials. Support estate and fiduciary tax-return preparation by gathering, reviewing, and organizing the necessary information and documentation. Assist with probate and surrogate court filings, deadlines, and related procedures. Provide support for occasional real estate matters, including document preparation, file organization, and transaction coordination. Maintain accurate calendars, deadlines, records, and filing systems. Proofread legal documents and correspondence carefully to ensure accuracy, proper spelling, and consistent formatting. Provide general legal secretarial and administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
At least five years of relevant experience as a trusts and estates paralegal, legal secretary, or in a similar legal support role. Hands-on experience supporting estate planning and estate administration matters. Familiarity with probate procedures, trusts and estates documentation, and related tax-return support. Experience assisting with real estate matters is preferred. Strong attention to detail, spelling, proofreading, and document organization skills. Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities with accuracy and discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
