What they do
A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description
Ability to work 9:00AM-5:00PM Ability to work overtime on short notice Possible hybrid 2 days a wk will be considered Unpaid Lunch Break No travel required No Work required on a NYS Holiday No Parking Provided Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Experience with the coordination of logistics for the DOH Direct Referral hearing process Ability to work independently on multiple case hearing details Proficient with operation of postage meter and process for sending documents by certified mail Experience fielding incoming calls, determining the legal subject that the caller is calling about, and routing caller to appropriate attorney or refer to appropriate DOH program area Proficient in coordinating service of legal documents Experience with processing of invoices for process service companies Experience working in the New York State Department of Health, Division of Legal Affairs Experience working with state clients Knowledge of the organizational structure of Department of Health Good communication skills both written and verbal Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Able to maintain an organized work space Reliable, efficient, and flexible Able to work independently and effectively Eager to learn and grow in any position Able to work with personal and confidential information in a professional manner Able to understand and interpret laws and other legal documents Detail oriented, quality conscious, strong prioritizing skills, highly organized Proficiency with the operation of Cisco telephone system Salary Commensurate with scope of work job experience Business Casual and footwear to perform tasks in a safe manner.
