A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Seeking energetic paralegal/legal assistant who takes initiative and is a quick learner. Will handle primarily litigation work in a growing law practice located in Poughkeepsie, New York. Professionalism, good writing and ability to multi-task are a must. Required to be extremely organized and detail-oriented. Qualifications/ Required and/or
Preferred Skills:
Good interaction with clients, attorneys, clerks, and court. Drafting legal documents including pleadings, discovery demands, orders and motions. Filing documents in court and electronically. Preparing files for court appearances, depositions and trials. Drafting correspondence and emails. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite (Mail, Drive, Docs and Calendar) and Clio required. Ability to learn and effectively and apply new software as required. Must be extremely motivated, detail oriented and a self starter. Experience in foreclosure or bankruptcy work a plus. A minimum of 3 years experience in litigation required. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits including health and 401k provided.
