About us Smith, Smith, Montgomery and Chamberlain, LLC is a small law firm, focusing in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Real Estate transactional law, and Business transactional law. We are proud to be located in downtown Bellefontaine, Ohio and serve the community where we all love to work and live! As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for performing various types of legal work by drafting and reviewing documents. You will also need to handle some administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and greeting people. You will work closely with legal professionals to ensure that all legal matters are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Attention to detail is a must. Prior legal experience is a plus, while prior work in a professional office setting is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to attorneys. Maintain, update and file all case files, including, correspondence, exhibits and pleadings. Coordinate the filing of court documents. Assist in drafting legal documents such as motions, pleadings, correspondence and wills. Maintain client contact. Enter attorney time records. Produce attorney billings and invoices. Handle cash receipts. Speak to debtors and handle payments from debtors both on the phone and in person.
