A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description
- Prepare, format, proofread, and file legal documents, correspondence, and court filings
- Manage attorney calendars, monitor court deadlines, and coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
- Coordinate communications with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, vendors, and other third parties
- Manage state and federal court e-filings and service of documents
- Organize and maintain pleadings, correspondence, discovery materials, and exhibits
- Assist with trial and hearing logistics, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and document organization
- Track case deadlines and ensure timely completion of filings and other litigation support activities
- Prepare routine correspondence and administrative documents under attorney direction
- Provide general administrative and litigation support to attorneys and legal staff
- Ensure compliance with court rules, filing requirements, and internal procedures Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation environment Experience supporting insurance defense or civil litigation practices preferred Knowledge of Ohio and Michigan court rules, procedures, and e-filing systems required Proficiency with document management and case management systems, including iManage or similar platforms Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel Excellent organizational, communication, and proofreading skills Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy About Gallagher Sharp Gallagher Sharp is a litigation defense firm with more than 100 years of experience representing clients in insurance defense, transportation and trucking, maritime law, professional liability, and general litigation matters.
