    A well-established banking corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant
  • Mortgage Servicing & Transaction Management to provide administrative, legal, and transaction support throughout mortgage servicing transfer projects.

This position will assist with the coordination of mortgage acquisition transactions from initial onboarding through closing and post-closing, while also supporting the ongoing management of contracts and business relationships associated with completed transfers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and able to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external business partners. Experience in mortgage servicing, contracts, transactions, or a corporate legal environment is a plus but not required. Key Responsibilities

Provide daily support for mortgage acquisition and servicing transfer projects from onboarding through successful completion.

Assist with the preparation, review, organization, and maintenance of legal and transaction documents, including contracts, agreements, and closing documents.

Maintain transaction checklists and monitor deadlines to ensure all requirements are completed before, during, and after closing.

Coordinate closing documentation, including signature packages, document compilation, and storage of fully executed agreements.

Schedule and coordinate routine meetings with sellers and other external counterparties throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Identify and communicate onboarding issues or documentation concerns to appropriate internal teams.

Support transaction timelines and coordinate deliverables with external counterparties.

Track and coordinate closing and post-closing activities to ensure timely completion of outstanding items.

Assist management, analysts, and technology teams with the development and maintenance of servicing transfer reporting, workflows, and supporting infrastructure.

Communicate upcoming servicing transfer details to internal and external stakeholders, including executed agreements, transfer instructions, and required controls.

Participate in internal workgroups and special projects as needed.

Assist with the review, preparation, and approval of claims involving prior mortgage servicers, including correspondence, reporting, and disputed or appealed claims.

Support management and business units with contract interpretation and application to individual loan-level scenarios.

Maintain accurate and organized transaction records and documentation throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Role Expectations

Work is performed with supervision and guidance from management.

Duties are varied and may involve complex transactions, documentation, deadlines, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to prioritize assignments, follow established procedures, and seek guidance when appropriate.

Qualifications

Associate degree, paralegal certificate from an accredited program, or equivalent relevant experience.

Previous experience in a legal, contracts, transaction management, mortgage servicing, or financial services environment is preferred but not required.

Experience supporting projects, managing timelines, or coordinating multiple stakeholders is a plus.

Corporate legal or transactional experience, including internships, is a plus.

Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Microsoft Access experience is a plus.
