Job Description
Overview The Sampat Law Firm is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support our attorneys in litigation, business transactions, estate planning, entertainment law, and general legal matters. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who is looking to continue or grow a career in the legal field while gaining hands-on experience in a fast paced law firm environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, able to manage multiple priorities, and capable of working independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Key Responsibilities The Legal Assistant / Paralegal will be responsible for a variety of substantive and administrative tasks, including:
Document Preparation:
Draft, proofread, revise, and format legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery materials, contracts, corporate documents, and memoranda.
Case Management:
Assist attorneys with litigation support, case organization, document review, and preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial.
Filing & Organization:
Manage and organize physical and electronic client files; assist with the preparation and e-filing of court documents in state and federal courts.
Communication:
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and third parties regarding case status, scheduling, and document coordination.
Conduct factual and legal research as directed by attorneys.
Administrative Support:
Perform administrative duties including scanning, copying, mail handling, file management, billing support, and office coordination. Qualifications and Skills We are looking for candidates who possess the following: Exceptional Attention to Detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in all work product. Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills with the ability to handle multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously. Professional and Effective Communication Skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and the ability to learn legal software and filing systems. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive legal matters. Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, administrative assistant, or in a professional office environment is preferred but not required. Experience with litigation support, legal drafting, court filing systems, or client communication is a plus. Paralegal Certificate, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required based on experience.
