Job Description

The District Attorney's Office of Boulder County is hiring a Legal Assistant I. The L egal Assistant I is a journey level classification specific to the legal field in the District Attorney's Office. The Legal Assistant I provides legal support work to attorneys for law-related tasks. The Legal Assistant performs a variety of non-routine and complex office duties requiring a familiarity with the legal field and a moderate degree of independent judgment. The 20th Judicial District Attorney is an elected state official, whose office prosecutes adult and juvenile criminal charges. This is a full-time, benefited position with the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office
  • Boulder County. Work hours are Monday through Friday, as well as periodic weekend court duties. This position will work out of the Boulder or Longmont office. Under FLSA guidelines this position is non-exempt. Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work. Salary Range

Enter data for criminal cases in case management system. Request essential discovery and any related documents for active criminal cases. Assist with preparation, electronic filing and service of motions and other documents. Review, verify and process documents requiring knowledge of departmental procedures and legal/nonlegal documents. Update case events and enter dispositions. Prepare and send subpoenas. Maintain clear and frequent communication with assigned deputy district attorney and be able to work in a team environment. Perform specialized projects that are of technical and confidential in nature. Utilize specialized computer applications, including office specific program, ACTION; Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams; and Adobe. Knowledge of NCIC and CCIC information systems for purposes of running criminal histories. Access law enforcement systems for purposes of obtaining reports, body cam, dash cam, and other types of media connected to criminal cases. Follow guidelines and procedures to maintain certifications for various government and law enforcement databases. Accurate typing skills and at least 40 wpm. Cover front desk duties, as needed. Work one weekend day, 3-4 times a year. Perform related work as required. May be reassigned in case of emergency situations. Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a h igh school diploma or equivalent and two years of office experience with one year in the legal profession. Additional related education may count towards required experience.

  • Must have ability to work in a standard office environment and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs: MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, as well as the ability to master internal legal software.
