Job Description

Job Summary A respected legal services team in Melbourne, FL is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide direct support to attorneys handling employment-related defense litigation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with strong litigation support experience, excellent document skills, and the ability to keep attorneys, clients, deadlines, and filings organized. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, team-oriented legal environment where accuracy, professionalism, communication, and initiative are highly valued. The Legal Assistant will be an important part of a busy defense litigation practice, supporting attorneys through discovery, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trial preparation. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling employment defense matters in state and federal courts.
  • Manage correspondence, phone calls, emails, client communications, court clerk communications, calendars, deadlines, and appointment follow-up.
  • Assist with litigation discovery, hearing preparation, arbitration preparation, trial preparation, bates numbering, redactions, and electronic court filings.
  • Format, proofread, revise, and finalize legal documents for accuracy, completeness, grammar, spelling, and filing readiness.
  • Maintain organized physical and electronic files, coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations, and support conflict check and client intake processes.
  • Process monthly expense reports and assist with time entry review, revision, and entry as requested. Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range: $65,000 to $75,000 per year.
