Job Description

The Waco office of Naman Howell has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal with 3+ years of civil litigation experience. Expectations include assisting a busy and diverse litigation docket from pre-suit investigations through trial and appeal. We offer competitive pay rates with outstanding benefits, including exemplary medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, and profit sharing/401(k) after one year of service. This is a full-time position with benefits. Standard hours are 8:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. Duties, including but not limited to: Managing overall case volume; maintaining high-volume documents in the Firm's document management system Communicating with clients, courts, experts, counsel, etc. Drafting correspondence and pleadings; maintaining client communication and case updates Scheduling and calendaring Participating in the preparation of discovery responses Summarizing deposition transcripts Requesting and analyzing medical records, preparing medical chronologies and billing summaries Preparing client documents for production Preparing notebooks/indexes for hearings, depositions, mediations, and organizing files for trial E-filing in state and federal courts Entering time Making travel arrangements and submitting expenses reimbursement Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
3+ years of relevant work experience Highly organized self-starter who is skilled in anticipating attorneys' needs Attention to detail and quality Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Dependable with strong work ethic and professional demeanor Strong proficiency with MS Office suite Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, but not required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Legal staff members are required to work in the office during standard business hours Monday through Friday. Working from home before or after business hours and/or on weekends may be required occasionally in order to successfully complete one's work. Staff members are exposed to typical office working conditions. Staff members should be able to stand, sit at an office space, speak and understand the English language, lift computer equipment, supplies and materials, and use office equipment and computers.
