Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Megan Kau, Esq. is looking for a litigation paralegal. We are a practice with one lawyer and one legal assistant. We handle mostly civil litigation, but we also handle a select number of major crimes criminal cases. We are looking for a paralegal to work on a part-time basis at first, with the possibility of becoming full-time. We prefer that the paralegal have one year of litigation experience. The paralegal will be required to review discovery and maintain a discovery summary. The summary addresses the substance of the discovery. The legal assistant is the one who logs, bates-stamps, and maintains the possession of the discovery. As such, the paralegal is only responsible for reviewing the documents for substance and discussing strategy with Ms. Kau. The paralegal will also be required to draft demand letters and complaints, conduct legal research, and brief case law. We would like the paralegal to also be able to assist in trial preparation.
Pay:
$20.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
