Who You Are:
You are a collaborative team player with excellent planning and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative. Other qualifications include:
2-3 years in litigation, including professional negligence and medical malpractice. Strong planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic file management systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with local and state court rules, HIPAA guidelines, and insurance defense billing.
What You'll Do:
As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for discovery, summarizing extensive litigation documents, and preparing exhibits for depositions and trials. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide support for depositions, trial preparation, and trial proceedings. Organize and summarize extensive documentation gathered during the discovery process. Prepare authorizations and subpoenas for the retrieval of records. Create detailed timelines and medical chronologies; conduct research on medical literature, diagrams, and terminology. Ensure compliance with local and state court rules as well as HIPAA guidelines. Conduct background investigations using social media and internet tools. Engage with clients, attorneys, experts, and other professionals, draft correspondence and analysis memoranda. Maintain accurate timekeeping and adhere to insurance defense billing guidelines. Utilize MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and electronic file management systems.
