Paralegal - Labor & EmploymentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Labor & Employment team to support attorneys across litigation, compliance, and counseling matters. The Paralegal will manage case files, prepare pleadings and discovery, assist with wage-and-hour and employment-related investigations, and coordinate with clients and HR contacts to ensure timely, accurate legal support. This role requires strong litigation support skills, attention to detail, and a practical understanding of labor and employment law and wage and hour issues.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines for multiple labor and employment matters.
Draft and prepare legal documents including complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and settlement agreements.
Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation: pleadings, discovery, document production, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
Support wage-and-hour and employment investigations by gathering facts, preparing witness summaries, and coordinating interviews with employees and HR representatives.
Perform legal research and prepare concise memoranda on labor and employment law topics, including FLSA, state wage-and-hour statutes, discrimination, retaliation, and NLRA-related issues.
Handle e-discovery tasks: collect, process, review, and produce electronic documents using litigation support platforms and organize document databases and exhibits.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and administrative agencies; prepare correspondence and status updates.
Prepare and organize trial exhibits, binders, and demonstrative materials; provide on-site and remote support for hearings and trials.
Assist with compliance audits, policy reviews, and training material preparation related to employment practices and wage-and-hour compliance.
Track billing and time entries, manage invoices and expense records, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
QualificationsAssociate degree or paralegal certificate required; bachelors degree preferred.
Minimum 24 years of paralegal experience with a focus on labor & employment law or employment litigation; experience with wage-and-hour claims strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, Title
VII, ADA, ADEA
), and familiarity with NLRA principles and administrative agency procedures.
Proven litigation support experience including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and trial preparation.
Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw or Lexis), Microsoft Office suite, and e-discovery/document management platforms (Relativity, Concordance, iManage, or similar).Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel and to work both independently and as part of a team.
Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA, state certification) and prior experience supporting employment-related investigations or HR compliance projects is a plus.
