Our experienced legal team handles a wide spectrum of cases, from family-based immigration to employment-related matters and more. We understand the profound implications immigration issues can have on our clients, and we focus on successfully resolving cases in an efficient and compassionate manner.Position Overview:
The Immigration Law Paralegal will provide essential support to attorneys, manage client cases, and assist with the legal and administrative tasks associated with immigration matters. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the immigration process. The paralegal will be the primary contact for clients, ensuring smooth case management and providing updates as necessary.Key Responsibilities:
•Client Interaction & Case Support:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout their ongoing cases. o Prepare for and assist in client meetings with the attorney, including the initial consultation. o Greet clients for appointments and initiate Zoom or phone calls. •Case Management & Documentation:
o Oversee substantive case work by monitoring timelines, client communications, and receipt of all required information. Coordinate with Vanessa to confirm completeness of documentation, and review MyCase to ensure all financial requirements are accurately recorded. •Calendar & Deadline Management:
o Maintain and update case calendars, including deadlines, interview dates, court hearings, and expiration dates for documents. o Set reminders for critical deadlines to ensure timely case progress. •Document Preparation & Drafting:
o Draft immigration-related forms (USCIS/DOS), pleadings, statements, and correspondence. o Request necessary translations and review supporting documents for sufficiency. •Client Interviews & Evidence Collection:
o Interview clients to gather background information for immigration forms and prepare other required evidence, such as affidavits and statements. o Review and compile supporting evidence, ensuring thorough documentation for case filings. •Case Monitoring & Communication:
o Monitor USCIS accounts and other relevant systems for notices requiring action. o Regularly communicate with clients via email, phone, or in person regarding case status and updates. o Draft and send inquiries to USCIS, DoS, or other relevant agencies. •Legal Research & Case Preparation:
o Conduct legal research, investigate facts, and request records as needed to support case development. o Identify and summarize key case issues for the attorney's review. •Case Filing & Briefs:
o Prepare and file case documents with USCIS or other agencies, ensuring all necessary materials are included. o Draft or update case briefs as necessary. •Case Completion & Closing:
o Monitor case progress through resolution and initiate closing procedures upon resolution and forward the case to the Office Manager for final closure. •Professional Development:
o Attend required training to update knowledge and skills as assigned by the attorney or office manager. •Additional Duties:
o Perform other tasks as required or assigned, including interpretation and translation if applicable based on language skills.Qualifications:
•Education:
o Associate's degree or Paralegal certificate preferred. o Specialization in immigration law is an advantage. •Experience:
o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in immigration law. o Experience with MyCase or similar case management software is a plus. •Skills:
o Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures. o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in [language] (if required for translation/interpretation duties). o Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. o Proficiency in legal research and document drafting. o Bilingual is preferred.Work Environment:
• This role is primarily remote work with weekly drive to pick up mails and banks. • The role may require some travel for client meetings or court appearances .
