Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Cookeville, Tennessee office. An excellent opportunity for a professional looking to gain significant experience in the legal field by directly supporting our attorneys and paralegals in managing case files and preparing for various legal proceedings. Serving as a stepping stone to a full paralegal career. This position is full-time, in office Monday through Friday at our Cookeville location.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain client files, encompassing both physical and digital documentation Perform essential clerical duties, including but not limited to data entry, scanning, copying, document organization, mailing, and correspondence. Provide administrative and clerical support directly to the Paralegal and Attorney Prepare legal documents for court filings, and client meetings Schedule appointments, hearings, and deadlines as directed by the legal team. Assist with the basic drafting and/or proofreading of letters, forms, and other documents. Mail, scan, and copy legal documents and correspondence. File legal documents with local courts or government offices, both electronically and in person. Handle other general office duties as needed to support the efficient operation of the legal team. Run local errands, such as filing legal documents, and delivering or picking up necessary documentation. Contact courts, offices, and agencies to confirm filings, court dates, or obtain basic information. Communicate with clients, courts, and other professionals under the direction of the Paralegal. Skills:
Critical thinking skills to analyze situations, anticipate logistical needs, and solve problems proactively Professional attitude, reliability, and discretion with confidential information Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy to minimize errors in critical legal documentation. Ability to prioritize competing tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications:
High School Diploma required Professional demeanor Ability to operate scanners, copiers, and printers 1 year of customer service experience preferred Proficiency with Google based software. Mail, Chat, and Share Drives Proficiency with grammar, spelling, and the written English language Tennessee Notary is a preferred but not required Must possess and maintain a valid/active TN driver's license Benefits:
