Small firm seeking a paralegal with 2 or more years of civil litigation/law firm experience to join our on-site team in Arlington, Texas.Firm Description:
The 2-lawyer firm defends civil lawsuits involving governmental entities. The firm has one full-time senior paralegal and is adding a full-time paralegal. Billing, bookkeeping and purchasing are handled by a part-time employee. The firm's offices are in an attractive stand-alone building in central Arlington.Job Responsibilities:
- File review, organization and maintenance
- Answering calls
- E-filing in State and Federal systems
- Writing, proofreading and document preparation
- Calendar and deadline management
- Discovery preparation and management
- Manage and direct complex litigation files in state and federal courts
- Appropriate regular communication with courts, clients and outside professionals
- Drafting pleadings, motions, responses, briefs and orders
- Review and summarize documents including medical reports, witness statements and police reports
- Assist in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials Preferred Qualifications
- 2 or more years civil litigation/law firm experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
- Strong typing, writing and organizational skills
- Excellent reasoning skills and ability to deal in nuanced matters
- Experience and strong skill level in at least a majority of the job responsibilities listed above
- Must be ok with large friendly office dog
