We try to help the good guys and chase the bad guys, and this includes but is not limited to high-stakes litigation. Our firm represents both individuals and businesses and works on both the plaintiff and defense side of the docket. We are a tight-knit, small firm and this position reports to 3-4 people. Our firm prides itself on the quality of its work product and its unwavering commitment to firm clients. The work environment is fast-paced and requires constant multi-tasking. Initiative, willingness to learn and strong interpersonal skills are essential in this position. Compensation commensurate with qualifications; excellent writing ability may increase pay. We offer competitive compensation, a monthly health insurance stipend, paid holidays, paid time off, a 401(k) plan, monthly gym membership reimbursement (up to $50.00 per month), and a congenial work environment. Duties File pleadings and motions in state and federal court File charges and other documents with administrative agencies (i.e., EEOC, TWC) Draft shell pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses Draft shell letters to opposing counsel and clients (including engagement letters) Communicate by phone and email with clients to provide updates Assist attorneys with litigation support, including preparation of deposition, hearing, and trial notebooks, exhibit notebooks, demonstratives, redacting documents, and bates labeling of exhibits Maintain high volume calendar and litigation deadlines Skills Strong organizational, oral/written communication, critical thinking, and time management abilities. You will be busy, and the position is fast paced. Schedule calls, meetings and appointments for attorneys and maintain the attorneys' calendars, including upcoming consultations, deadlines, and other events Technology proficient, including Microsoft Office Suite Must be able to type moderately fast without excessive mistakes Fluent written and spoken Spanish is a plus Experience filing documents in state and federal court (via eFiling, Pacer, etc.) Must be deadline and detail oriented Qualifications Undergraduate degree Must want to work hard, take pride in work, be a self-starter, and take initiative Must care about quality beyond the bare minimum; natural competitive drive is a plus
