Our caseload is rapidly growing and our ideal candidate for the position must be friendly, helpful, and work well with others. Because we are an Immigration Law Firm, you must be able to speak and write proficiently in Spanish and English. 4 years of prior experience in Immigration Law, preferably in an Immigration paralegal role is required. Office hours (Office is open Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm). To be successful as an Immigration paralegal, you should have a pleasant personality, exceptional legal writing and research abilities, possess superior leadership skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and provide excellent customer service to clients. You should be able to deal with urgent matters in a timely and effective manner, while assisting our attorneys. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. DACA recipients and anyone with current employment authorization are welcome to apply. Pay based on education and experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (Bilingual) required
  • Manage attorney cases and deadlines
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
  • Prepare legal documents and assist with legal drafting
  • Conduct both in-person and virtual client interviews
  • Answer multi-line phone system, screen and forward incoming phone calls
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/emailing
  • Sending, receiving and processing all correspondence
  • Update calendars for Attorneys
  • Cataloging and maintaining case filing system
  • Additionally, a Paralegal should have a comprehensive knowledge of the immigration process, mastery of multiple case types, and increasing company client interaction
Desired Qualifications:
  • High School Degree or GED is required, Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • Paralegal Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies preferred
  • Experience working at a nonprofit, immigration law firm or public interest law firm is required
  • Passion and enthusiasm for immigration legal work
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (Bilingual) required
  • Spanish fluency is required and will be tested at time of interview
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a high-volume, busy law firm is helpful
  • Proven work experience as an immigration paralegal or similar role required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Microsoft Word, Gmail Calendar
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude
