Job Description

The Commonwealth's Attorney is one of five constitutional officers in the Loudoun County government. The primary function of the office is to investigate and prosecute felony, misdemeanor, traffic, and juvenile criminal cases in concert with local and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as complaints from private citizens. The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Loudoun County, VA is seeking qualified applicants for a Legal Services Assistant. This position will be responsible for misdemeanor traffic and criminal paperwork. Responsibilities also include running criminal and traffic records for cases (VCIN), preparing legal documents, correspondence, scanning archived felony files in Laserfiche and other general administrative duties. Knowledge of the judicial system is helpful, but not required. In addition, this position will provide administrative support to the attorneys and the paralegal teams. Hiring Salary is Commensurate with Experience. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience with computer automated systems and Microsoft Office applications experience, preferably in a legal office. Associate's degree with paralegal coursework preferred. Experience with Judicial Dialogue, case management software, Laserfiche is preferred. Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required. Must be VCIN certified within 90 days of hire.
