Job Description

Overview Join our team at the Commonwealth Attorney's Office for Rockbridge County & The City of Lexington as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to support our attorneys in prosecuting criminal cases for our community. The position entails answering phone calls and emails, preparing case files, responding to discovery requests from defense attorneys, interfacing with the court clerks' offices, and more. Our fast-paced and close knit office of 10 employees located in the Rockbridge County's Courthouse Building provides a pleasant and collaborative atmosphere that values your contributions and promotes professional growth. Duties Assist attorneys with case preparation, including preparing common motions, notices and orders. Entering information into our case management system, Prosecutor by Karpel (PbK). Running criminal and driving records. Preparing case files. Answering phone calls and responding to other incoming correspondence. Retrieving documents from the court clerk's offices located in our building. Communicating with Law Enforcement Officers. Experience Great communication skills and professional demeanor are a must. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment needed. Strong computer skills, especially proficiency with Microsoft Office sought. A background in the law and the criminal justice system is highly desirable, but we would train the right candidate.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
