We are a well-established general practice law firm in Newport News committed to providing professional, compassionate, and client-focused legal services. This position will have a primary emphasis in family law matters, while also providing support in criminal and other general practice areas as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys being part of a collaborative team where professionalism, flexibility, and excellent client service are valued. Key Responsibilities Assist attorneys with family law matters including divorce, custody, visitation, support, and related proceedings Prepare and organize legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery under attorney direction Maintain and organize case files and client documents Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties Manage scheduling, calendaring, court dates, deadlines, and client appointments Assist with electronic filing and general case management tasks Provide administrative and clerical support as needed in a collaborative office environment Assist attorneys with trial and hearing preparation Qualifications Family law experience required Experience in criminal law or general practice is a plus Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced office environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems Professionalism, reliability, discretion, and attention to detail Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team Why Join Our Firm?
