This position is ideal for a candidate with prior clerical or legal office experience who is ready to take on more responsibility in preparation, client communication, and immigration processes. This position reports to the Immigrations Manager (virtual) and the Post-Filing Director (on-site). The ideal candidate will be client focused, bilingual in English and Spanish, and have prior administrative or customer-facing experience. Miller & Miller Law is looking for team members that have the willingness and drive to remain organized and meet deadlines while patiently and compassionately working with individuals during a difficult time. Legal Assistants have no supervisory responsibilities. Key Responsibilities
  • Immigration-Focused Duties o Print and physically assemble completed immigration packets once final attorney authorization is received o Assemble and submit application packets to USCIS and other agencies o Communicate with clients in both English & Spanish to request documents, provide updates, and guide them through next steps (non-legal advice) o Schedule and coordinate immigration consultations, including virtual/video meetings • Bankruptcy-Focused Duties o Assist with preparation and organization of bankruptcy petitions o Help assemble bankruptcy filing packets and supporting schedules o Enter client financial and case data into bankruptcy software systems o Assist with scheduling bankruptcy consultations, court dates, and creditor meetings • Client Support & Intake o Greet and assist clients visiting the office o Communicate professionally with clients in English & Spanish o Assist with client intake, including gathering initial case information and documentation o Help clients prepare for consultations and video appointments o Provide general client communication regarding document requests and appointment reminders (non-legal guidance) o Compile, review, and organize client documents, including income records, tax returns, and debt information to ensure completeness and accuracy o Coordinate client document collection and follow up on missing items • Administrative & Cross-Functional Support o Maintain organized electronic and physical case files o Enter and update case data in firm systems o Assist with general office duties such as scanning, filing, and document processing o Provide flexible support across departments based on firm needs o Support attorneys and staff during high-volume periods or staff absences o Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and document processing o Draft basic correspondence, cover letters, and document checklists Skills & Competencies • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling legal documents • Excellent bilingual communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to manage tasks and deadlines • Professional, client-focused demeanor • Strong organizational skills and reliability • Adaptability to support multiple practice areas • Team-oriented with a willingness to grow professionally Additional Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
