Smith is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated corporate legal assistant to join its corporate legal department. This role supports attorneys within the department Primary Function Provides support for a variety of law-related activities that do not require a law degree, including managing and coordinating service of process, analyzing and organizing case file material and preparing litigation and claims status and disposition reports. Responsibilities Assisting attorneys in the administration of the company's legal department, corporate secretarial, trademark, litigation, real estate, and contract matters Partnering with other legal team members in streamlining law department operations, including the application of new administrative services, matter management systems and technologies Organizing legal files, managing calendars, scheduling meetings Compiling, maintaining, tracking and submitting required regulatory reports, documentation and compliance metrics to senior management and regulatory bodies Interfacing with outside counsel, company officers and employees regarding management and handling of legal matters Helping with drafting, proofreading, editing and comparing legal documents and correspondence, including preparing "redlined" or tracked changes versions of documents Photocopying, scanning, emailing or faxing materials Typing, filing, mail sorting and answering phones Qualifications A strong sense of personal initiative and commitment to teamwork A minimum of five (5) years of legal administration and/or administrative support experience Microsoft Office proficiency - advanced skills in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Ability to evaluate, learn and adopt new technologies that improve efficiency, accuracy and service delivery within the legal department Working knowledge of corporate ERM, SAP and matter management systems, such as eCounsel or SuccessFactors, is preferred Must be detailed-oriented, highly organized, with the ability to multitask, prioritize and follow through on projects Must be comfortable working with a group with high demands and tight time deadlines Must have strong communication and customer service skills with ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals both inside and outside the company at all levels Willingness to take and follow directions and to ask questions when uncertain of task Dependability and flexibility and collegiality Ability to maintain and handle confidential information We Offer Competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits plans which include medical and dental insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, retirement security savings plan, short- and long-term disability programs and tuition assistance. #LI-AO #LI-Onsite #Appcast ADA Statement & EEO Statement In developing this job description care was taken to include all competencies needed to successfully perform in this position.
