Role Description The Legal Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in our New London, Wisconsin office. This role provides administrative and legal support to attorneys and staff in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Responsibilities include preparing, proofreading, and organizing legal documents; maintaining physical and electronic case files; managing attorney calendars, deadlines, and court dates; coordinating client appointments; and assisting with court filings and document retrieval. The Legal Assistant will communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other outside agencies while helping ensure the efficient progression of cases. Additional responsibilities include drafting correspondence, compiling case information, performing basic legal research, answering and directing telephone calls, welcoming clients, and providing general administrative support to maintain an organized and efficient office. This position also includes assisting with client billing, processing payments, preparing invoices and account statements, and maintaining accurate financial records using office accounting software. Qualifications Previous experience as a legal assistant, administrative assistant, or in a professional environment preferred; legal experience is a plus. Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience preparing, formatting, proofreading, and organizing documents and correspondence. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel; experience with legal case management software is preferred. Experience using Intuit QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred. Ability to process client payments, prepare invoices and account statements, and maintain accurate financial records with attention to detail. Typing speed of 50+ words per minute with a high degree of accuracy is preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive client information. Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Professional, courteous, and client-focused demeanor. Associate's degree, paralegal or legal assistant certificate, or equivalent education and/or relevant work experience preferred.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
