Job Description

The purpose of this position is to enforce parking regulations through the issuance of overtime parking citations and violations of handicap parking within the City.
Essential Functions:
Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business. Communicates and interacts with the public daily; assists public with directions, complaints and general instructions. Operates a hand-held computer, radio and pager. Enters data into a hand-held computer to enforce parking laws on a uniform and impartial basis. Prepares handwritten records accurately and legibly. Provides accurate court testimony in the prosecution of overtime parking violations. Informs Police Communications when the need for law enforcement or other emergency services is apparent. Communicates with city court for outstanding tickets for car booting. Communicates with dispatch for emergencies and zone car for backup. Maintains confidentiality about information learned on the job. Performs other work as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Work is performed typically standing and walking; however, sitting, bending, stooping, and reaching is required on an intermittent basis. Walking approximately eight (8) to ten (10) miles per day on concrete and asphalt and work in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to carry a hand-held computer weighing two (2) pounds and physical dexterity to enter data.
