Job Description

Shows a commitment to quality service by promoting local business, public safety and quality of life by patrolling assigned beat to monitor, regulate, and control parking. Advocates good will for the City of Virginia Beach by providing excellent customer service to residents and guests. Demonstrates knowledge of parking ordinances, parking options and rates, and Oceanfront events and amenities to assist guests and residents. Creates a positive image of the City of Virginia Beach by maintaining a professional, empathetic, and composed demeanor when interacting with guests and residents. Uses technology to monitor compliance of city parking ordinances and enforce parking regulations at meters, residential streets, and pay-station controlled parking lots. Practices active listening techniques and excellent customer service skills when engaging with guests, residents, associates and managers Demonstrates knowledge of parking rules and regulations when addressing guest questions and concerns. Guides guests in the selection of parking options by demonstrating knowledge of street, lot, and garage locations and rates Assists with and educates guests on the operation of each type of parking meter Exhibits familiarity of Oceanfront events and amenities and is able to provide general directions. Promotes public and resident safety by maintaining a state of awareness of physical hazards and suspicious activity. Researches field guide to ensure correct performance of enforcement tasks. Provides competent court testimony for contested citations Safely operates and maintains company vehicle. Uses email as a daily communication tool Organizes equipment and supplies. Outstanding communication skills Excellent customer service skills Capable of using current technology Knows Google applications such as Gmail and Google calendar Clean driving record Capable standing and walking for extended periods of time Able to work in all weather conditions Has the ability to be flexible with schedule Must be able to work hours more than normally scheduled hours. Weekend and holiday availability a must .
