What We Do The Pinal County Department of Juvenile Court Services provides youth, victims and families with the resources and tools for achieving success through seamless solution-based continuum of care. We provide public safety under the jurisdiction of the Superior Court and redirect juveniles to become more accountable for their actions. The Juvenile Court Services Intern supports a therapeutic team approach in the care and treatment of Court involved youth and families and serves as a liaison among Dependency, Juvenile Probation, Juvenile Detention, and related court programs. Under supervision, the Juvenile Court Services Intern may support mental health or behavioral assistance in an individual, group and family dynamic in a detention or outpatient setting in the community. In addition to behavioral health focused services, the intern may also assist with activities connected to dependency court programs. The individual in this role will contribute as an active member of interdisciplinary teams working to support youth and families and provide meaningful, lasting change. The intern will collaborate with staff from various disciplines regarding the on-going needs of youth and their families in both community and detention settings. Responsibilities may include facilitating engagement in services, reinforcing treatment plan objectives, supporting skill-building efforts, and assisting families in navigating court-related programs and expectations. The Juvenile Court Intern is Entry/Trainee level position that works under close supervision.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Conducts assessments and evaluations of juveniles and their families involved in the Juvenile Court System Formulates treatment plans and evaluates outcomes Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings, Child Family Team meetings and Adult Recover Team meetings and may assist in activities related to court-directed programs such as Family Treatment Court Conducts parenting skills classes Conducts therapy on an individual and group basis Consults with staff and participates in the development and monitoring of individual behavior plans Participates in crisis intervention Provides consultation, education and training to staff and other groups, including parents and other community members Researches and implements Best Practice treatment modalities Coordinates services with other agencies Maintains written records Prepares and provides educational and informational materials for community distribution Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

Must be enrolled in a MSW program with an accredited School of Social Work; OR Must be enrolled in a master's level counseling program with an accredited School of Counseling. Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver's License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, reach, perform repetitive motion, lift, hear, speak, stand, walk, operate motor vehicles and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a juvenile detention facility, in an office setting and/or the community.
