What You'll Do A Juvenile Assessment officer is a specialized case manager who redirects individuals through the Diversion program—primarily juveniles or first-time offenders—away from traditional criminal prosecution and into rehabilitative programs like community service. Their goal is to reduce recidivism by assessing needs, formulating diversion contracts, and monitoring participant compliance.

Core responsibilities typically include:

Client Assessment:

Conducting pre-trial or intake interviews to evaluate an offender's suitability for diversion programs.

Case Management:

Creating and executing specific diversion agreements, monitoring participant progress, and referring clients to community resources or mental health services.

Reporting:

Compiling case notes, tracking compliance (such as drug testing or school attendance), and submitting regular progress reports to the District Attorney, judges, or parole officers.

Liaison:

Serving as a bridge between the court system, local law enforcement, community-based organizations, and the offender's family to ensure accountability and support.

Enforcement:

Reporting violations of diversion contracts to the appropriate authorities for potential sanctions or court filings.
